We have resources and information for individual employers, personal assistants (PAs) and supporting organisations for people employing their own care as well as resources to support people in a PA role and organisations who support both individual employers and PAs.
An individual employer is a person directly employing a personal assistant for their care and support. This is usually done using a direct payment from a local authority, a personal health budget from the NHS or their own money (or a combination).
Employing personal assistants is a way people can have choice and control over care and support arrangements; focusing on what’s important to them.
These pages include information about learning and development for both individual employers and personal assistants, as well as funding to pay for training.
